Because you don’t really mean it.

And just saying the words doesn’t really make a difference. Especially when you don’t mean it in the first place.

We spend a lot of time doing things simply because of how others expect us to behave. We say the right words. We do the right things. We pretend like we care.

All the while wondering why we don’t experience the outrageous results we imagine possible for ourselves.

That’s because saying words doesn’t make you grateful.

Gratitude isn’t what you do. It’s a part of who you are. It’s a lifestyle. An attitude. It colors every decision that you make. Everything that you do. Every part of who you are.

That’s why you can’t fake it. Saying words just makes you sound arrogant and contrived. Selfish. And out-of-touch.

The truth is that we all have reason to be grateful. Every day brings countless opportunities to pause and take note of the awesomeness that we call life and the pursuit of success.

Here’s a simple truth:

No matter what happened yesterday, you have today to start again.

Perhaps of all the reasons to be grateful, having the opportunity for a second chance should bring you the most wonder and inspiration.

So don’t waste your time saying words and going through the motions. Pause and marvel at the opportunity you have to audaciously conquer any obstacles in your way.

Then go be awesome.
