About (Dan)

  • Case No. 1
Fresh-faced and not long out of college, Dan realized his gift for sales was something out of the ordinary when he grew a legal technology firm 800% in 18 months, going from entry-level sales guy to CEO in that same time.

  • Case No. 2
It’s not always about the rock star sales guy or a great leader. By working with a technology company to restructure their business plan and their organizational structure behind the scenes, Dan helped them grow their revenue 300% in less than 15 months.

  • Case No. 3
It’s not a specific case, but it’s worth knowing: Dan helps more than 30 companies each year grow their businesses by more than 200%.

Since birth, Dan Waldschmidt has been refusing to accept business as usual.

Sure, he had a paper route, but he turned his into a money-making machine (though he opted not to tell his mom about his increased profits).

He ran track like plenty of other kids, but he pushed himself to break his high school’s mile record. He got the usual entry-level job right of college, but then he changed the sales process, earned millions of dollars for the company, and became CEO by the time he was 25.

These days, Dan is partner in a private equity technology accelerator and a former technology CEO. He is an early-early-early adopter of game-changing technology. He blogs regularly on his motivational selling blog Edge of Explosion. He is husband to a cute gal named Sara and father to two energetic boys. He’s just an ordinary dude who happens to have an outrageous vision. And he wants to change the world…

So read the blog, check out his resources, send him an email. Whatever you do, don’t just sit on the sidelines!”

Dan at a Glance

Fact 1:

I was born five weeks late, and have been making up for lost time ever since.

Fact 2:

I won a national speech contest when I was in high school. Never underestimate the value of being articulate.

Fact 3:

I refuse to use a lawn mower with a bag attachment. Hard work builds character!

Fact 4:

I was 18 when I became the youngest department manager of the Sears in Shelby, North Carolina.

Fact 5:

I spent six consecutive summers in Mexico. It’s a great place to learn Spanish and play lots of soccer.

Fact 6:

I sold cemetery plots while studying theology at seminary. It’s good to keep life in perspective.

Fact 7:

My two sons both have the initials “D.B.” I wish I could say there was some deep reason, but really I just have an affinity for keeping things in order.

Fact 8:

I trained for an Ultimate Fighting event, but ultimately the only thing I ended up fighting was an infection in the ER. I’m pretty sure it was a blessing in disguise.

Fact 9:

I stood up the first time I ever tried to water ski. It was pretty great.

Fact 10:

I’ve been known to listen to Josh Groban’s “You Raise Me Up” 50 times in a single day. I bought Susan Boyle’s CD the day it came out. What can I say? I’m a sucker for sappy, inspirational music and ugly-duckling success stories, and I always root for the underdog.

Fact 11:

I think of myself as a student of human nature. I like to take the time to listen to everyone’s story, and I’m always inspired. By my dad, who’s writing a book. By a CEO friend, who failed miserably in his attempts to build great companies three times, until he finally got it right the fourth time. You get the idea…

Fact 12:

I had 17 cavities last year. I’ve now quit my hard candy habit.
