That’s where I’m at.

You come to a point in your life where you just decide that you have had enough of mediocrity. Your own.

Not the world around you. Not the nonsense on the television channel. Not your work commitments, your colleagues, or your church group.

You decide that you demand more of you.

And it starts right now.

Not tomorrow when you wake up. Not next week after you have time to think about it. Right this very second.

It’s time to act.

There is this tremendous sense of urgency that you feel.

For the first time, it feels like the world starts to slow down around you and you get the extra energy to ramp it into high gear for an extra lap or two.

You stop planning for what you want to be “when you grow up” and and start being the rock-star you always thought you could be.

It’s the little things.

It’s when we decide to:

Whine a little less.

Think of others a little more.

Put in a little more effort.

Be a little more courageous.

Forgive a little faster.

It’s an attitude more than anything. Your problems don’t magically disappear. And, all the obstacles you faced earlier in the day are still there now.

“No special “fairy dust” gets sprinkled on the resistance that wants to grind you down and spit you out…”

But, what changes is……… everything!

Because the only thing that really mattered in the first place was your attitude.

That’s the only thing that made you a loser in the first place.

So Go Do It.

I am not talking down to you. I’m writing this for me.

It just feels like it’s about that time to do something amazing.

What will you do today?

I read the following quote from Bob Lefsetz who writes the ever irreverent Lefsetz Letter… The reason I add it as even being slightly engaging is that ALL I read about these days is doom and gloom.

FEAR…

Can we stop already? Is to too much to ask that we believe in OUR OWN abilities. Why does the economy have to determine my destiny or my ability to EXECUTE clear steps toward my goals? Yes, it’s a factor! But it’s not everything!

Seriously……

Are we all so insecure and “helpless” that we have to take our confidence in our own success from WALL STREET? Perspective check:

Our school system has been broken for years and yet we get more INDIGESTION over a broken banking system…

Our political system is more disfunction than efficiency and yet we now lose sleep over markets that realigning themselves with REALITY…

We need to stop following the circus called “the media” and take a moment to really think about the future.

“Realizing our GOALS is less about what happens to us by others and more about how we harness the PRESENT — using it as a CATALYST for what we want out of the FUTURE…” (DEWism)

SORRY! That was more rant than substantive, but drastic times take drastic measures. Here is the quote from Bob:

A rock star is not someone who takes the temperature, who gauges the marketplace before he creates his “art”. A rock star is someone who needs to create and is willing to tolerate the haters along with the fans. He’s someone who incites controversy just by existing. That’s what we lost in the dash for cash. Unique voices. I’m not saying we haven’t ended up with some pleasant music, but it just hasn’t hit you in the gut, it’s the aural equivalent of Splenda, it might do the trick, but it’s not the real thing. The real thing grabs your attention, drives down deep into your heart and lodges itself there. A rock star doesn’t follow conventions, doesn’t go disco or add drum machines just because everybody else does. A rock star exists in his own unique space, and if you met him you probably wouldn’t like him. Because he tends to be self-focused to the point of being narcissistic. Because he cares. He needs to get his message out.

SO… We can play it safe and go hunker down for the “pending recession” or we can strategize our way to executing clear steps toward our goals!
