You have a breaking point. A point at which you don’t feel like you have anything left to give. A point at which you can’t go on. A time when you stare failure full in the face and wonder if you were ever meant to come out the winner.
You’ve been told to dig deep.
You’ve been told to keep trying. You’ve been told to lay it all on the line and then to cross that line.
To burn the ships. To keep going. To keep doing.
But you know the truth. That that won’t work right now. Not for you. Not from where you’re standing.
All you can see is doom.
All you can hear around you are the sounds of defeat. Your heart screams quietly in anguish.
You face a hard choice to a simple problem. To stop and figure it out or to be swallowed up in the chaos of the moment.
When you feel like you’re broken — when you feel like you’ll never be able to put the pieces back together — that’s when you have to take a moment to pause. And think it out.
You deliberately take time to think.
To meditate. To allow yourself one more chance to break through the emotional clutter of your experience.
When you can’t go on you have to find a way to go deeper. When you can’t get through, you have to find a way to think through your predicament.
In the chaos of life, it is easy to live from emotional peak to peak. Never stopping to evaluate why things end up the way they do. Never puasing long enough to make critical upgrades to personal skills.
And so when things get tough we panic.
All that is needed is just silence.
A quiet thought.
Chaos comes naturally. Panic and confusion and emotion come naturally.
But quietness, and silence, they only come when you plan for them to arrive.
To silence failure you have to take time in the middle of the battle to pause and think.
Be grateful for your victories.
Be practical about your weaknesses. Be humble. Courageous. Always eager to learn.
And refuse to make excuses. Just get better.
Embrace the silence.
