14 Bad Habits Guaranteed To Stop You From Being A Business Superstar.

Success in life most often comes down to eliminating bad habits. Here are a few of them that plague business leaders:

  1. Stop paying so much attention to what your competition is doing.  Just because they are nit-wits doesn’t mean that you need to run your company like one too. Lead audaciously.
  2. Stop referring to prospects as a “lead score”.  Know their names, their problems, why they came to your website, and how you can help them.
  3. Stop expecting your customer service team to solve your lack of business empathy.  Teach everyone in your company to care more.
  4. Stop pretending like your company doesn’t make any mistakes. Use your screw-ups as opportunities to show clients that you are serious about their business.
  5. Stop relying on your social media team to create the “brand” for your business. Lead by example.  Set an example of being awesome and demand it from everyone in your company.
  6. Stop under-communicating.  Share your vision, goals, and expectations with everyone in your company every day.  Everyone should be in the “need to know” club.
  7. Stop underpaying for top executive talent.  The worst way to begin a relationship is to make sure your high achievers know you value greed above changing the world.
  8. Stop setting quotas for your sales team.  Hire high achievers, demand excellence, mentor like crazy and get out of the way.  You’ll be surprised at what happens next.
  9. Stop looking for your marketing silver bullet. No amount of social media or vial videos can fix a bad business conversation. Change the conversation and dominate your industry.
  10. Stop thinking it’s the end of the world when you achieve unexpectedly bad results.  Create a “bounce-back culture” where everyone believes that success is right around the corner – and fights for it alongside you.
  11. Stop complaining when other people in your industry get away with things that are wrong. Create a culture where excellence trumps “win at all costs”.
  12. Stop being negative. It cripples creativity, demoralizes your team,  and drives away high-performers who would otherwise help you make a big difference in achieving success
  13. Stop confusing passive aggression as business savvy.  Reward candor.  Demand kindness.  Tolerate disagreement.
  14. Stop needing facts and figures before you trust your gut instinct on business direction. By the time you have enough evidence to make a decision the opportunity for greatness is long passed.

The good news is that the next best thing to doing something amazing is just not doing something stupid.

And that’s what bad habits are.  Stupid.

It’s time to change that.
