We’ve become good at living in a business culture of unbelief.
Nothing matters unless it is displayed inside a spreadsheet, a 30 slide presentation deck, or in a report supported by unassailable market statistics.
And while there’s nothing wrong with doing your homework, strategizing complex decisions, or being prepared, that’s not the same as believing.
Its not the same as dreaming big and doing everything in your power to achieve those dreams.
Its not the same as inspiring the team around you to rise above their own inadequacies to do something that is truly remarkable.
Its not the same as living and learning and leading.
It’s kind of a cop-out. Emotional laziness.
One of the most important things that you need to know before making any decision has nothing to do with facts or figures or market trends. It has nothing to do with anything you could put down onto paper.
It has to do with what you feel. A courageous feeling we often call “belief”.
- Belief that even if you get it wrong the first time you are resilient enough to figure it out.
- Belief that sometimes bad things will happen to you even though you’re trying to do something good.
- Belief that you can’t be stopped unless you don’t get started.
- Belief that you were meant for a higher calling then just mediocrity
Those beliefs can change your world.
And everyone around you as well. Not the words. Not the sentiments. Or phrases. The belief.
That belief is all consuming. It’s what drives you. Empowers you. Lifts you back up on your feet when you have been run over by adversity. Your belief in you is what makes a difference.
Not reports or statistics, presentations, spreadsheets, or complex market analysis. Those are just a ticket to the game we call business.
Belief is what makes you a winner.
Are you a believer?
