Whatever it is, it starts with you wanting it. From goals to dreams to wills and wishes — you have to want it before you get it. No one can want it for you. No one can will you to want it.
It’s got to be you. It’s got to be inside you. Like a fire. Slowly smoldering.
You don’t need to tell anyone what it is. You don’t need to ask for help or share your grand ambitions. But you do need to let it consume you.
You do need to think about it. You do need to take time to foster the flames of your dream.
That usually starts with honesty.
See — there are things that you’ve been told you should want. A nice home in the suburbs. A steady job with great benefits. Family game night on Friday evening. Two great vacations a year. The American dream.
But sometimes wanting what other people tell you you should be wanting just leaves you going through the motions. Half heartedly doing what other people tell you is important, all the while avoiding to focus on the important dreams burning inside you.
And you only figure that out when life smacks you in the face and calls your bluff.
And then you usually find yourself sick or injured or in a position where something bad just happened around you.
So it bears remembering to stop what you are doing and feed the flames of your desires. It is important to just think about what you really want for you. Stopping to plan and prepare and ponder ways to get you closer to where you want to be. That just makes you want it all the more.
Just make sure what you want is what you want.
Not with someone else tells you you should be wanting.
It might be stupid or silly or absolutely insane from the outside, but crazier things than your dream have come out looking pretty brilliant.
So don’t give up on what you want. Don’t stop wanting what you want.
Drive forward. Realize that your passion and focus is ultimately what determines if you achieve your big dreams or not.
That means you gotta want it. Bad.
