It Doesn’t Matter Until It Does.

It doesn’t matter that you come in to work late each day until you get passed over for a pay raise and promotion that you deserve. It doesn’t matter that you’re “just being honest” until you can’t seem to find anyone willing to stand behind you any more.

It doesn’t matter that you don’t work hard enough each day until you realize you have wasted the last ten years of your life spinning in circles.

It doesn’t matter that you don’t listen to anyone else until you find yourself in a position where listening won’t help you anymore.

It doesn’t matter that you’re arrogant and petty until you make the wrong enemies and find yourself in the middle of tragedy.

It doesn’t matter that you have an excuse for how things went wrong.

It doesn’t matter that what you’re doing right now is the wrong thing to do.

It never matters until it does. That’s how life works.

It’s easy to let the details slide by unchecked until a life experience forces you to reconsider how you’re living your life.

There’s always a reason why you should be focusing on the big thing instead of worrying about the details. There’s always a buddy, a pal, or an expert you know whispering in your ear that you should just focus on what you’re good at and ignore everything else.

And so you do. Until you can’t do that anymore. Until you’re forced to change your life.

And usually when that happens it’s not a good circumstance. You’re not winning a prize or getting promoted, you’re usually flat on your face pulling yourself up off the ground bloodied, battered, and bruised .

All because you didn’t care to obsess about the details.

It doesn’t matter until it does. But when it does, it’s more painful then you’ve ever imagined.

So start focusing on what matters now while you still have the chance to do something that’s amazing.
