HOW TO BE COMMITTED WHEN YOU DON’T FEEL LIKE IT.

If you find yourself struggling to stay committed, find some inspiration from someone else who clearly is.

You don’t have to spend that much time watching the Olympics to realize the enormous commitment required for anyone showing up at the games.

To be one of the top contenders in the world requires massive amounts of personal commitment.

Financially. Physically. And emotionally.

Regardless of whether you win a medal, you have to be “all in” to compete. Not just the moment in which your particular event occurs, but all the moments up to that point.

You have to get out of bed even when your body is screaming at you for a little more sleep.

You have to make sacrifices about how you spend your time and money that are wildly uncomfortable and seem outrageous to everyone else around you.

“THE SAME LEVEL OF COMMITMENT THAT IS REQUIRED OF AN ATHLETE TO PUT THEMSELVES ON THE OLYMPIC STAGE IS EXACTLY WHAT IS REQUIRED OF YOU TO ACHIEVE YOUR GOALS. REGARDLESS OF WHAT IT IS THAT YOU WANT.”

Whether it’s sports or politics or business or love or money — to be successful you have to be committed. Uncomfortably so. A little bit crazy to those watching you.

Let’s face it, some days you don’t feel like being uncomfortable.

You’re tired of being called the crazy one.

Even though you know that you’re doing the right thing, you can use a bit of inspiration.

So look to those who are committed. Find motivation from the stories of those who have demonstrated the commitment you so desperately need for yourself.

Embrace their struggle.

Remind yourself pointedly that you’re just as human as they are. You’re just as talented and driven as them.

If they can do it so can you.
